CLICK HERE to review the brochure, Union Members: Know Your Rights, from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment Standards Administration, Office of Labor-Management Standards. The Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act (LMRDA) guarantees certain rights to union members and imposes certain responsibilities on union officers to ensure union democracy, financial integrity, and transparency. The Office of Labor-Management Standards is the Federal agency with primary authority to enforce many LMRDA provisions.
NAIL provides to it's local officers and stewards training in the filing and processing of grievances, unfair labor practices and discrminination complaints, as well as other appeal processes. The training includes investigation techniques, strategies and information requests. Training is also provided on collective bargaining preparation, strategies and processes, including negotiablity appeals and impasses resolution.

2008 Locals Training - Training is ongoing for all NAIL Locals. Content is a combination of Basic Labor Relations and a Workshop for Union Stewards and Labor Leaders. Representatives from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, as well as NAIL's National Representative, George Reaves, are providing the training. Several sites have included both Union Representatives and Management in their training.
